About our Martingale Leash for Large Dogs
No matter how electrified you and your dog are when running out of the ring, you’ll be able to heartily tug on this leash with total abandon.
Whether you compete in barn hunt, agility or other dog sports, this build-it-yourself slip collar leash will impress the most reluctant tugger or discerning handler.
Welcome to our most durable martingale leash.
Agility Slip Lead
If your dog enjoys tugging, they will fall in love with this tug leash again and again after every run. Feel the rush of a thrilling course by playing tug of war as you leave the ring. There’s no need to fill your hands with both a leash and a toy reward when you can minimize. Celebrate a job well done with your leash itself! Efficiency means everything under the pressure of getting from crate to ringside and back again, doesn’t it?
For dogs that aren’t a fan of tugging on their leash, you’ll appreciate the weight and thickness of this fleece braid. Confidently grab your leash and slip your dog. There is a generous 10″ slip section at the end of the collar. That means no fumbling or catching the collar on your dog’s fur. We know how shaky a human’s hands can get from ring nerves!
For Midi and Maxi Dogs | Durablity & style
The 1″ or 1.5″ collar width options, along with the fleece leash design, makes this slip leash ideal for medium to large sized agility dogs who tug hard. The durability of the braiding makes it ideal for dogs who grate their teeth when tugging. You’ll feel confident in the extra security this tug leash provides.
If you have a mini dog with a neck measurement of 11″ or less, you may prefer the much lighter Toy Dog slip leash. On the other hand, if you have a midi dog who tugs politely, check out our bestselling fleece martingale leash.
Collar Embroidery | Personalized Dog Leash
The collar of your slip lead is personalized with embroidery. Up to 10 embroidery text characters (including spaces) are included with your purchase. You can choose the color and font for the ultimate control in designing your perfect leash. Alternatively, if you’d like to leave that to the expert, just select “Brie’s choice” and Brie will choose on your behalf.
Need some extra flare? There are lots of stylish stocked embroidery symbols you can add to your martingale leash to make your dog’s personality shine. We can also create simple embroidery symbols from scratch to build a meaningful gift or honor a special event.
If your dog is nervous about being slipped, we encourage adding a buckle to your slip collar. This will make entering and exiting the ring a less stressful experience, particularly for a young dog or a pressure sensitive soul. Learn more about how adding a buckle to your slip leash can improve your ringside experience.
Care & Cleaning | Easy to wash
The design of this leash uses fleece as the primary material. Fleece is ideal for dusty or dirt arenas because it can be cleaned easily. Easy cleaning is helpful for heavy trialling schedules where the leash might not get washed for a few trials in a row. If you have a dog who enthusiastically tugs on anything you present to her, or a heavy trialling schedule, fleece is an economical choice. Fleece is also preferable for handlers that have sensory considerations.
Each custom leash is approximately 5 ft long. This is measured from the base of the collar starting with the end of the D rings all the way to the end of the leash handle. Note that this martingale leash will stretch ~4 to 6″ as it gets used and broken-in. If you need your leash to be a different length than 5 ft, please click here to add a leash length modification to your order.
Add Fur to your Agility Leash
Need it fuzzy? No problem. You can add one or two strips of fur to your agility leash. Add fur to your leash here. This will remove one or two strips of fleece from your leash and upgrade them to fur instead.
We recommend fur that is short, soft and fuzzy for tug leashes. That being said, we have various textures of fur available. Contact us if you have specific needs.
Slip Leash Reviews
This tough tug leash has been a bestselling slip leash since the beginning of Snuffles & Tugs in 2017. It is second in popularity only to the Fleece Agility Slip Lead. The simplicity in the design makes it easy to clean and care for, and the sensible materials makes it suitable for any dog sport.
Check out the reviews from our pack members. The extra reinforcement from the webbing braided through this fleece leash makes it the first choice of our competitors running large dogs in agility, and barn hunt.

Custom Made | Agility Slip Leash
Brie will construct your martingale leash from scratch when you order, according to your color choices and embroidery specifications.
Brie uses high strength threads and metal hardware to make each seam. Quality is priority! Her sewing machines punch through several layers of material as if it was butter. Brie has carefully sourced materials so your gear will withstand the tests a dog will put it through.
Grab a measuring tape, and gently pull it snug around your dog’s neck. Do not place any more than one finger between your dog’s neck and measuring tape. If the measurement reads between sizes, size down. Do not size up or add “wiggle room.” The collar must be the exact size of your dog’s neck in order for it to tighten snugly. It’s very important to size down so your dog can’t back out of their slip leash! Any extra room between their neck and the collar when the collar is pulled tight could let them escape. Visit Brie’s slip leash sizing guide for more information on measuring your dog.
Processing times | Personalized martingale collar
Handcrafting your agility slip lead takes time. In order to get each detail right on your tug leash, Brie typically takes 2 to 3 weeks to complete and ship custom leashes. However, processing times do vary by the time of year and number of orders that Brie is working on. Therefore, we recommend double check the current processing time in the store banner. If you are on a deadline, we suggest that you rush your order. Rush service will have your order skip the processing queue.
When you place an order for a custom leash, please check your email regularly. Brie will keep you posted on her progress as she creates your martingale slip leash.
